Seven people face charges in shooting death of Taylorsville man

TAYLORSVILLE — Three people, including a 17-year-old boy, have been charged as adults in connection with the shooting death of a Taylorsville man last week.

Alejandro Mendoza, 17, Ariana Aguilar, 44, and Natalie Estella Aguilar, 19, all of Ogden, were each charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with murder and aggravated burglary, first-degree felonies. Mendoza was also charged with obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony. Ariana Aguilar was charged with two additional counts of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony, and retaliation against a witness, a third-degree felony.

Four other people, aged 14 to 16, are listed as co-defendants.

On Oct. 13, Taylorsville police were called to a residence near 2300 West and 4200 South around 3:40 a.m. There, officers found Jorge Llamas, 21, who had been shot.

Ariana Aguilar – who was dating Llamas – was found on him. She allegedly told police that “the shooter came in through the window” and “that she did not know who shot her or where the gun was,” according to charging documents.

But while officers were still in the house, they later heard a commotion in the front room and found Aguilar holding another woman to the ground while punching her, according to the charges. That woman told police that Llamas and Aguilar had fought earlier in the evening and that Llamas had kicked her out, according to the charges. Aguilar then returned to the residence with her daughter, Natalie Aguilar, and several teenage boys.

Moments after two of the teens entered Llamas’ bedroom, a gunshot was heard, according to charging documents.

After Llamas’ death, Ogden police helped locate and arrest those who allegedly fled the home, according to the charges.

After her arrest, “Natalie stated that she received a call from her mother, Ariana, who told her that they needed to come ‘jump’ the llamas,” according to the charges.

When Natalie Aguilar arrived with the others, they found her mother, who allegedly claimed the llamas had “put their hands on her.” The group then forced their way into Llamas’ bedroom where he was sleeping, according to the charges.

“Natalie said Llamas was sleeping when Ariana told them, ‘That’s my friend.’ Natalie said (one of the teens) started yelling at Llamas, “You’re going to get your hands on his buddy’s mom” and hit him with the gun Natalie said (the teen) continued. to hit Llamas with the gun before shooting him,” according to charging documents.

One of the charged teens later told investigators they were just supposed to “scare” the llamas. That teen said he later received a message from one of the others saying, “Sorry, someone must have put a bullet in the chamber,” the charges state.
