Aspen has opened applications for its Cultural Vibrancy Grant, which is now available to adult and youth artists.

Designed to support local talent, the scholarship provides financial assistance while fostering community within Aspen’s artistic population. Applications must be submitted before November 21.

Twelve adult artists will be selected for the scholarship, each eligible to receive up to $4,000 in funding. To qualify, adult applicants must be at least 18 years old and live or work within the Aspen urban growth boundary for at least nine months per year.

The scholarship also includes a youth cohort of 10 participants, offering up to $750 for each young artist. Youth applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and reside within the Aspen urban growth boundary or attend the Aspen School District.

In addition to financial support, recipients will have the opportunity to participate in gatherings led by senior artists, creating a platform for collaboration and learning.

“The Cultural Vibrancy Fellowship provides monetary grants to local and aspiring young artists, encouraging exploration, innovation and growth in their artistic endeavors,” said Sarah Roy, director of the Red Brick Center for the Arts, in a press release. “Additionally, the scholarship facilitates relationship building and creative exchanges among recipients.”

Roy said local artists are an integral part of Aspen’s vibrant arts scene and by supporting local and young artists, the community is investing in a more vibrant, healthier, connected community.

The scholarship is open to artists working in a variety of disciplines, including performing arts, visual arts, film, literature and new media. Although adult artists who have previously participated are not eligible to apply again this year, young artists who have applied in the past are welcome to reapply.

Interested artists can submit their application online before the deadline of November 21. More information on guidelines, eligibility and selection criteria is available at aspen.gov.
