The Nomad Group was also removed from the Australian Restaurant and Cafe Association on the same day.

In a statement later in the day, Yazbek said he apologized “unequivocally for my actions during Sunday’s protest where I carried a sign that was deeply offensive to the Jewish community.”

“My friends and acquaintances who know me – whether Jewish or not – know that I am not an anti-Semite, and they also know how passionate I am about supporting diversity and equality, both in my personal life and within the Nomad group of companies,” he said. .

The Nomad group’s social media platforms were flooded with comments and bad reviews following the rally. Goldman Sachs, champagne brand GH Mumm and law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler have all severed ties with Melbourne’s Yazbek restaurants.
