CCTV footage showed her falling from the 14th floor of a 16-storey building, an officer said, adding that the camera covered the building up to that floor only.

Noida: An 18-year-old domestic worker allegedly fell to her death from a high-rise in Noida’s Sector 134 on Saturday, with police prima facie suspecting it to be suicide. But following his family’s overnight protest, claiming it was a criminal act, his employer was charged with murder on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Swati (only name), a resident of Nagli area near Sector 135, police said, adding that the woman worked as a house help in a JP Kosmos company hostel in the sector 134, since June.

“On Saturday around noon, the woman fell to her death from the skyscraper. A police team rushed to the spot and later sent the body for post-mortem. During the investigation, CCTV footage was accessed which showed her falling from the top of the 14th floor. She worked in the apartment located on the 11th floor of a 16-story building. The camera, however, covered the building up to the 14th floor. She may have fallen from the terrace,” said a senior police officer.

At first glance, the police suspect that it is a suicide. But until Sunday, police had not yet determined the possible reason for this extreme measure.

After the news of the death reached his family and neighbors, they protested outside the society. “The family alleged that her employer pushed her. Based on these allegations, a case under Section 103 (murder) of the NBS was registered on Sunday against the unidentified suspect of apartment number 1105 at the Highway Police Station,” said Savya Goel , deputy commissioner of police, adding that the owner, who works at a private company, resides with his wife and a baby.

On Sunday, the autopsy of the deceased was carried out in the presence of large police forces.
