NRLW champion Millie Elliott’s heartbreak as ring stolen

NRLW star Millie Elliott has demanded her premiership ring be returned to her after it was stolen from her home over the weekend.

Elliott (née Boyle) was part of the star-studded Sydney Roosters team that beat Cronulla 32-28 in the NRLW grand final to win the club’s second premiership.

But a week after winning the decider, the 26-year-old full-back revealed his premiership ring had gone missing from his Newcastle home in suspicious circumstances.

She wrote on Instagram: “PSA. If you work in a pawnshop in Newy and someone comes in with a number 8 premiership ring to trade for cash, let me know because it’s probably not theirs and they came into my house at night and stole it.

It’s a disappointing end to the season for Elliott, who has had another excellent NRLW campaign.

She was named in the NRLW Dally M Team of the Year and made history by winning her fourth premiership in the competition’s seventh season.

Elliott won two premierships with the Brisbane Broncos and another with the Newcastle Knights in 2022 before joining the Roosters.

She joined legendary hardman Glenn Lazarus as the only players to win the premiership at three different clubs.

Lazarus won with Canberra (1989, 1990), the Brisbane Broncos (1992, 1993) and the Melbourne Storm (1999).

Elliott married Knights forward Adam Elliott in rugby league’s wedding of the year in 2023.

The couple married in Newcastle and celebrated their ceremony by walking through a guard of honor while jumping off a pier into the ocean.

The NRLW superstar was recently named in the Jillaroos squad for the Pacific Championships, which kick off with a clash against Papua New Guinea on Friday night.

There was controversy when Boyle’s teammate and newly crowned Dally M winner Olivia Kernick was left out of the Jillaroos team.

Coach Brad Donald explained his decision by saying that veterans Kezie Apps and Mahalia Murphy were the preferred players on the third line.

“Liv is probably not too far away, she was on the NSW bench as well this year and she will be next if something happens,” Donald said on Monday in comments which have since been criticized.

“When you have the captain in your position in Kezie Apps, it’s quite difficult. Then, the versatility (of) Mahalia too.

Kernick, who discovered she had missed the squad as she celebrated her premiership victory, was disappointed but philosophical about her non-selection.

“You know what? It was sad and I know what I need to work on,” she said on the Upfront podcast hosted by Roosters teammates Elliott and Keeley Davis.

“I was with my teammates and really enjoyed the rest of the day. I had a good time.

“Disappointed for me but so happy for the girls and I can’t wait to cheer them on.” I obviously would have loved to be there with you girls.

Donald said Kernick would be the next player called up to the team in case of injury.

Roosters teammate Elliott, who was recalled to the Jillaroos squad, said she was disappointed it coincided with Kernick’s withdrawal.

“I’m a marvel, I played one match in 2019. It’s my first time back in the team, obviously I would have loved to be there with you girls,” she said.

The Australian Prime Minister’s XIII beat the PNG Premier’s XIII 50-0 on Sunday – Keele Browne scored a hat-trick and Jaime Chapman and Rory Owen scored a double.
