Radisson man charged after RCMP investigation in Maidstone

After an extensive investigation, Maidstone RCMP were able to identify and lay charges against the adult male who approached and spoke to a child at a playground at Sandy Beach Regional Park in August.

The man was subject to a court-imposed peace bond, prohibiting him from going to a playground.

He was arrested on October 16 at a residence in Radisson, Saskatchewan, located approximately 65 km northwest of Saskatoon.

During a search of the residence, officers located and seized three loaded and unsecured firearms.

The man is accused of:

  • one count, disobeying a court order, section 127(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 91(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • three counts, dangerous storage of a firearm, section 86(2) of the Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88(1), Criminal Code; And
  • one count, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and was released on the following conditions:

  • Remain inside your approved residence 24 hours a day. This condition will be electronically monitored according to its conditions.
  • Do not frequent areas where children (under 16 years of age) are generally present for school or recreational purposes.
  • Do not own any firearms.

His next court date is scheduled for late November.
