Dramatic night in Ludhiana: Man sets food carts on fire, causes cylinders to explode | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: Man, allegedly drunk, set fire to three people food cartswhich caused two LPG cylinders exploded at Bhamiyan Road around 3 a.m. on Monday. The accused allegedly had an argument with two food vendors, who were brothers. A newspaper seller noticed the fire and informed the police. Firefighters were also called to the scene.
The police filed a complaint against the accused, Sarabjeet Singha resident of Dharampura, Shingar Road, following the complaint of Gurmeet Singh, who lives near CMC Hospital. Gurmeet Singh, who owns three street food carts at chaupati, Bhamiyan Road, said the accused’s wife also had a food cart at the market where he and his brother work.
On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., Sarabjeet arrived in a drunken state and created a nuisance. The complainant said he asked her to stop using objectionable language and leave, which led to an argument. He said the accused also manhandled him. People in the area intervened and calmed both parties. After Sarabjeet left, Gurmeet and his brother went to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for a medical check-up. They also filed a complaint against Sarabjeet Singh.
The complainant said Sarabjeet and his aides stopped them near Dharampura when they were on their way back and attacked them. They fled and returned home thinking they would report to the police in the morning.
Gurmeet Singh said, “Around 3 am, a newspaper vendor, who is our customer, was passing through the chaupati and noticed that our food carts were on fire. He informed me and we rushed to the spot. Usually we bring the LPG cylinders home every day after completing the work, but on Sunday we left the cylinders on the trolley as we had to go to the civil hospital. Sarabjeet returned to the spot and ignited both cylinders. The three wagons were reduced to ashes. The accused is at large. tnn
