A man from Vincent does not deny sexual assault

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – A Washington County man accused of sexual battery will spend eight years behind bars.

Rodney Duane James of Vincent, Ohio pleaded no contest today to charges of sexual assault and possession of a weapon while under disability.

The battery charge was one of several sexual charges James was indicted on earlier this year related to what the prosecution alleged were several incidents of sexual assault by James against the victim over several years from when she was a teenager.

Possession of a weapon while under a disability charge stems from James’ possession of a firearm while he was addicted and using drugs.

Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Kerenyi found James guilty of both charges.

James was sentenced to 60 months in prison for sexual assault and 36 months for possessing a weapon while under a disability charge.

James will also have to register as a level three sex offender after his release from prison.
