Director Raaj Shaandaliyaa apologizes for ‘unauthorized use’ of Stree in Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video

Director Raaj Shandaliyaa has publicly apologized to producer Dinesh Vijan for the “unauthorized use” of characters and dialogues from the Stree franchise in his latest directorial Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.

Raaj’s comedy entertainer stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in the lead. Rajkummar is still basking in the success of his latest blockbuster Stree 2, and Vicky Vidya has references to the hit horror-comedy.

After facing backlash, the film’s makers Rajkummar and Triptii decided to remove all references to the Stree franchise.

The note further said, “We are taking immediate steps to rectify the issue and are in the process of removing any illegal content from our film in which we have used the characters and dialogues from Maddock Films’ ‘Stree’ at the earliest.” we aim to complete this process by Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to the complete satisfaction of Maddock Films. We are also committed to ensuring that no such unauthorized use occurs in the future.

The note ends by saying, “We further confirm that our film ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is in no way associated with Maddock Films, their ‘Stree’ and ‘Stree 2’ franchises, or the one of the characters that appear there. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over “Stree”, “Stree 2” or any associated characters. Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is currently in theaters.
