Las Vegas man killed in ‘road rage’ shooting on I-15

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A shooting on I-15 that left a father dead was the result of road rage, a new arrest warrant reveals.

On Aug. 8, Darin Algee, 30, was killed in a shooting on southbound I-15 in Flamingo. On Monday, Las Vegas Metro Police announced the arrest of two suspects: Jasahn Lovette, 23, and Damarion Bell, 18.

Police said surveillance footage captured by a FedEx truck also traveling in the area showed the white Jeep Renegade speeding past, swerving between lanes before heading toward Algee’s Audi.

“The Audi then swerved to the right, then to the left, then to the right again, then to the left, crashing into the center median wall,” the warrant states.

An initial search of Algee’s vehicle resulted in the recovery of several bullets inside the vehicle.

Nearly two weeks later, the LVMPD Fusion Center was notified that a commercial license plate scanner had located the white Jeep. North Las Vegas police officers were able to recover the Jeep from a parking lot in the 1000 block of East Carey Avenue.

Surveillance footage provided by a local resident showed the suspects parking the vehicle and “wiping it down with a towel” before leaving it behind. The vehicle, which police learned was stolen, was taken into custody and several possible pieces of evidence were recovered.

After reviewing DNA evidence recovered from the Jeep and comparing surveillance footage of the suspects, police were able to identify Lovette and Bell as suspects.

Bell and Lovette were arrested on Friday, October 18. In an arrest report, Metro Police say Lovette was arrested after stealing a vehicle and fleeing police with a third, unrelated suspect.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a status check on Thursday, October 24.
