Fighting revenge porn made me stronger for Celebrity SAS, says Georgia Harrison

Reality TV star Georgia Harrison said her fight for victims of revenge porn after intimate footage of her was leaked gave her the strength to complete the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins course because “nothing is comparable” to his previous low feelings.

Her former partner and Celebrity Big Brother winner Stephen Bear was released from prison in January, after serving 10 and a half months of his 21-month sentence for sharing a private film of him having sex with Harrison on his OnlyFans site without her. consent.

On Monday it was revealed that Love Island star Harrison, 29, and boxing champion Lani Daniels, 36, were the two recruits to complete the latest series of the Channel 4 show which tests physical endurance and the mental strength of the competitors.

Reflecting on the impact of recent years on his mentality before taking the course, Harrison told the PA news agency: “I definitely think the experiences I’ve had over the last couple of years have made me much stronger as an individual.

“And I think talking to anyone who has gone through grief, whether it’s grief from a previous part of yourself, what image-based sexual abuse might cause, or grief from to the loss of someone very close to you, it makes you a lot more empathetic, but it makes things that probably would have affected you before feel like a pinch of salt.

“Because once you’ve fallen to that low point in your life and in your existence, and you’ve had to keep pushing through it, nothing really compares to that feeling.

“And I think that’s a lot of what gave me my strength, having to go through those experiences.”

The TV star campaigned for victims of sexual assault to be given greater priority within the justice system following the revenge porn trial against her ex-boyfriend.

The final saw the final four – Harrison, Daniels, former professional boxer Anthony Ogogo and reality TV star Bianca Gascoigne – face intense questioning by a team of specialists where they had to pretend they had been caught behind enemy lines deep in the New Zealand wilderness.

During the interrogation, the recruits were required to relay a cover story that had been given to them by the Senior Leadership Team (DS) during their interrogation.

Harrison broke down in tears at one point during the interrogation while being questioned for being the leader of the group and later when she was put in a cage outside.

In the final, Ogogo was taken off the course by the referee as they felt he was “arrogant” and Gascoigne voluntarily left the process.

Harrison revealed that the interrogation was the most difficult aspect of the series, recalling: “You start to lose that understanding of space and time, you don’t know how long you’ve been in this situation, how long long this will last. , who is still with you, you become completely delusional.

She believes that taking the course made her feel “more resilient” as a person and gave her more strength to overcome daily challenges.

Harrison also hopes it will break any stereotypes about him, saying: “I definitely don’t think a lot of people thought I would last two seconds in that environment, especially not when I come in with my army nails on.”

“It’s really good to get past the perception that I’m a reality star, which a lot of people may think, but in reality I’m really strong and I’m willing to get stuck in and I don’t care not really about how I look or how stupid I look right now, I’m just going to give it my all and hope for the best.

She added: “I left this course feeling so inspired by the DS, who they are as people, what they do for our country, I feel like I really learned a lot, like during my stay there. »

Reality star Bobby Norris, TV presenter Cherry Healey and Love Island star Ovie Soko missed the series finale after leaving the process in the penultimate episode.
