In the first, officers from Peel Regional Police’s Strategic and Tactical Policing Team stopped a vehicle on the busy neighborhood street lined with high-rise apartments and townhouses.

Three men and a woman, all from Mississauga, were arrested after a brief police investigation.

The STEP Team is a specially trained unit of Peel Police officers who patrol the streets looking for criminals who pose specific threats to the public, particularly those that involve firearms and other acts of violence. violence.

In the second incident at Acorn Place last Friday, a Mississauga man was arrested and charged after police stopped another vehicle.

On Saturday, STEP officers stopped a car in the area of ​​Matheson Boulevard East and Satellite Drive, near Highways 401 and 427 and just south of Toronto Pearson Airport.

A Toronto man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Keegan Gabriel, 39, and Quinton Kelly, 25, both of Mississauga, each face a series of charges in connection with the first investigation. The charges against the two men are as follows:

  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • carry a concealed weapon
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine

Both were held for a bail hearing.

Adrinho Smith, 18, and Kierra Eustache-Cassonova, 25, both of Mississauga, each face a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking, also as part of the initial police investigation.

They will appear in Brampton court at a later date.

Randall McKoy, 30, of Mississauga, faces numerous charges in connection with the second police investigation.

Among other offenses, he is accused of:

  • careless storage of a firearm
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine

He was detained pending his bail hearing.

Omari Statterswaite, 43, of Toronto, faces charges in connection with the police stop carried out Saturday near the airport.

The charges against him include:

  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • carry a concealed weapon
  • possession of a firearm contrary to order (three counts)
  • have custody and control of a motor vehicle containing readily accessible cannabis

He was also detained pending his bail hearing.
