Freetown police arrest man accused of rape

FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) — An Assonet man was arrested Friday after an investigation by the Freetown Police Department resulted in an arrest warrant for several serious offenses, including rape.

Brendan D. Nunes, 23, is charged with rape, drugging for sexual intercourse, strangulation/suffocation, witness intimidation and three counts of assault and battery, police said.

Nunes is being held at the Bristol County House of Correction on $50,000 cash bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Fall River District Court.
