Lennox Vanvacter, 30, of Duncombe, Iowa, faces multiple charges after he was involved in a chase March 22 in Sioux City.(Woodbury County Jail)

The charges stem from a police chase near Fort Dodge in July of last year. Authorities say the chase lasted about 30 minutes and reached speeds of 100 mph. Once the vehicle was stopped with spike strips, Vanvacter attempted to flee on foot but was caught a short time later. Authorities say Vanvacter had a loaded gun in his vehicle during the pursuit, which he was not allowed to have in his possession.

The chase in Fort Dodge came four months after he was arrested in Sioux City following a pursuit that ended with his vehicle crashing in Latham Park. He pleaded guilty in January 2024 to five counts in the case and was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.

The federal conviction also carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
