McMahon Auditorium partners with NEA Big Read to bring theatrical reading event to Lawton

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), continuing its partnership with McMahon Auditorium, is bringing another event to Lawton this fall.

The Big Read Initiative program announces the casting of a theatrical reading of “Trail by water” by Qui Nguyen.

Vietnamese and Asian actors are encouraged to participate to help celebrate and share cultural diversity at this very unique event.

This year’s book featured in the Big Read Initiative was “The Best We Can Do” by Thi Bui, a Vietnamese author. The theater reading event is being held in tandem with this event in hopes of creating a deeper connection within the community.

To be considered for the next live reading performance, participants can send an email with their name and age to Jason Pudrier at his email address.

The submission deadline is October 31, Halloween.

The live reading of the play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on November 22 at McMahon Auditorium.
