A partial autopsy revealed that the former One Direction singer, who died at age 31, had several substances in his system when he fell to his death from the third floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 16 October, according to sources. ABC News. These substances included “pink cocaine” – a recreational drug that is usually a mixture of several drugs, including methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others – as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack cocaine. An improvised aluminum pipe for ingesting drugs was also found in his hotel room, according to sources.

Payne’s body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy is completed, the sources also told ABC News.

Before Payne’s death, hotel officials called authorities and asked them to “send someone urgently” because a guest they said was “high on drugs and alcohol.”

“We need to send someone urgently because I don’t know if the host’s life is in danger because he is in a room with a balcony, and we are concerned that he might do something that threatens his life” , said the emergency services officer.

When authorities arrived about seven minutes later, Payne’s body was found in the hotel’s interior courtyard, where he was pronounced dead at the scene, Alberto Crescenti, director of SAME, told ABC News emergency medical services in Buenos Aires.

A preliminary autopsy report from Argentina’s prosecutor’s office found that Payne died of “multiple trauma” and “internal and external bleeding.” Twenty-five injuries were reported on Payne’s body. The report stated that Payne’s head injuries were sufficient to cause death and that the cause of death was related to the height of his fall.

The Buenos Aires Security Ministry previously told ABC News that “several substances and broken objects were found in Payne’s hotel room.”

A hotel employee suspected of supplying drugs to Payne on the day of his death was questioned by officials, Argentine state police told ABC News. This employee has not been arrested and no charges have been filed against him at this time.
