Shocking video shows childcare worker abuses 1-year-old child

The shocking moment a one-year-old girl was hit and bitten by two teachers at a nursery in Brazil has been caught on camera.

Surveillance footage showed the baby and other young children playing on the floor at Tutti Bambini, a school in the southeastern town of Uberlândia, where she was attacked on October 7.

One of the women, whose name has not been released, leaned over and slapped the little girl’s bottom, then sat down to tend to another little girl.

A second woman, an 18-year-old girl whose name has also not been released, then entered the room and aggressively picked the girl off the floor and made her sit down.

She then grabbed the girl’s left arm and bit her while the other worker watched without intervening.

Two childminders (seen here above and below right) have been fired after they were recorded hitting and biting a one-year-old girl.

The baby could be seen touching her arm before the woman removed her arm and began applying an unknown substance to the bite mark.

The parents were concerned after noticing the mark on their daughter’s arm and the woman told them their daughter had bitten herself.

They questioned the claims of the daycare workers and demanded an inspection of the surveillance camera system, which exposed the employee’s lies.

The girl’s father, who hid his identity, told TV Integreçao that his wife had been consumed with guilt since learning that the educators had abused their daughter, while adding that the school was more concerned about having his reputation tarnished because of the child’s well-being.

The distraught mother, who also declined to be named, struggles to sleep and constantly wakes up in the middle of the night crying.

After biting the one-year-old girl, the childminder applied cream to the bite mark on the child’s left arm. She initially told the child’s parents that she had bitten herself before the school reviewed surveillance footage and discovered her lie.

In Brazil, a childminder was seen on video slapping a one-year-old girl’s bottom moments before her colleague bit the baby’s left arm.

“Everyone was there, looking at her and she cried for minutes. They kept pulling his arm to see if there was a mark, applying cream with all their might,” she said. “It destroyed me. It was something which I had never thought of.

“It’s hard for me to see all this,” she added. “My daughter is one year old and she has no way of defending herself.”

The two assistants were immediately fired by Tutti Bambini on October 8.

“We would like to emphasize that, throughout our 10-year history, our school has always maintained a high level of care and attention…we have prioritized creating a family-friendly and supportive environment , as all the parents who have been with us throughout this period have noticed,” the nursery said in a statement.

“However, we recognize that we have no control over individual reactions and behaviors and that unexpected situations may arise.”

Minas Gerais Civil Police are investigating the incident.
