AAA spotlights teen driver safety as National Awareness Week kicks off

As Teen Driving Safety Week begins, AAA is highlighting the dangers young drivers face on the road. Data shows that teen drivers aged 16 to 17 are three times more likely than adults to be involved in fatal crashes, with road crashes the leading cause of death among teens aged 15 to 18 in the United States. In 2022 alone, 2,514 people were killed. in accidents involving teenage drivers.

AAA urges parents to have safety conversations with their teens this week. The organization is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its driver education course, which combines a five-hour virtual program with hands-on instruction to prepare young drivers for the road.
