Wyoming County man pleads guilty to attempted felony

OCEANA, WV (WVNS) — A Wyoming County man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

According to a press release, Tommy Ray Wilson, 67, of Kopperston, pleaded guilty to attempting to commit a felony on October 9, 2024.

Members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a stolen car in the Oceana area of ​​Wyoming County on July 2, 2024. Law enforcement was notified by a witness that Wilson entered her home without permission, took her father’s car keys, and took her father’s car.

The witness’s father told law enforcement that Wilson did not have permission to take the car, and law enforcement said Wilson said he planned to return the car after he got married.

Wilson’s sentencing is scheduled for November 19, 2024, and he faces one to three years in prison.
