Toy gun prompts temporary closures at 2 Lethbridge schools Thursday

A weapons complaint that led to the temporary closure of two Lethbridge schools Thursday was found to be non-threatening, police said in a news release.

At 9:40 a.m., police received a call of a firearms complaint in front of Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and Central Catholic High School.

As a precaution, both schools were advised to lock their doors to the public.

Police arrested four suspects, before determining the “weapon” was a toy/replica firearm.

They say at no time was the weapon used to threaten anyone.

Police advised both schools to lift their lockdown.

The investigation into the incident continues.
