Aerial footage captures significant tornado destruction in Martin County homes

Martin County residents are recovering after their community was ravaged by an unusual number of tornadoes brought on by Hurricane Milton.

“The consequences are heartbreaking,” the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said in a Facebook post.

Aerial video released by the sheriff’s office shows the destruction of a tornado swarm left in its wake. The video shows numerous homes that suffered significant damage, trees destroyed and large structures scattered across several properties. People are seen on the ground watching the destruction of their community and cars driving around observing the damage caused by the storm.

Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) released photos of the damage in The Preserve and Mariner Sands, between Seabranch Boulevard Mariner Sands Drive. Photos released by MCFR show several trees partially torn from the ground and roofs torn off homes.

Martin County Fire Rescue says its medics are in neighborhoods along Southeast Federal and US 1 to help those affected by the storm. The fire department also sends its High Water Vehicle team to go door to door to make sure no one is trapped or missed.

MCFR said there were serious to minor injuries. No deaths have been reported.
