Two convicted for threatening to kill a man

Thiruvananthapuram: A man and a woman were arrested for threatening to kill a 45-year-old man when he asked them to return the Rs 10 million they had borrowed from him.
The Kattakada-based man got to know the duo through another person, and they befriended him and claimed they were married. The accused then borrowed Rs 10 lakh from him over a period of three months.
The museum police have registered a case against the accused, Deepu, 33, and Manjusha, 41, residents of Panagapara, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 318 (4) for cheating, 319 (2) for cheating per person, and 351 (1) for criminal intimidation.
The man also claimed that the couple presented themselves under false names and he later realized that they were not even married.
In the complaint, the victim alleged that the accused first stopped answering calls when he demanded reimbursement. The man then inquired about them in their place of origin and discovered that their names were false. It was then that he realized that neither of them were married. This annoyed the accused; they then warned him not to inquire about them and issued death threats.
Police said a case was registered and the victim submitted the transaction details to prove her claim.
