Murder investigation launched after man died injured outside his home in North Ayrshire

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man found seriously injured outside his home in North Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to Pollock Crescent, Kilwining, at around 1.55pm on Friday after receiving reports of an injured man.

Emergency services attended and John Taylor, from Kilwining, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After an autopsy, the death was ruled a murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie, of Major Investigation Teams West, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Taylor’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“They are supported by specially trained officers and have asked that their privacy be respected.

“Based on our investigations so far, we believe this was a targeted attack and a team of dedicated officers are working to find those responsible as quickly as possible.

“We have already spoken to a number of people who came to Mr Taylor’s aid until the ambulance arrived and I would like to thank them for their help.

“However, I still want to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious. Please contact the agents if you can help.

“Any information could prove vital in getting answers for Mr Taylor’s family.”

“We are also appealing to anyone in Pollock Crescent and surrounding areas with a dashcam to check your footage as you may have captured something that could be important to our investigation.”

Detectives have also created a website which allows members of the public to access a form to send information directly to the major investigation team, which can be submitted anonymously.

DCI McCreadie added: “We understand that this incident will be concerning for the local community, but please be assured that we are doing all we can to identify those involved as quickly as possible, with CCTV footage collected from the surrounding area and door-to-door inquiries. at door continue. .

“There will be additional patrols in the area and anyone with concerns or information can speak to these officers.
