Florence man Kyle Seely pleads guilty to attacking family with machete

FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) – A Florence man admitted to attacking his family with a machete in court Thursday, according to authorities.

Kyle Seeley pleaded guilty to three counts of assault. He was sentenced to 25 years.

Seeley was initially charged with multiple counts of attempted murder after attacking six members of his family in 2021.

Three of the victims were Seeley’s children, all under the age of ten. Seeley barricaded himself in the house for hours in a standoff with authorities until they were finally forced to fire tear gas to force him out.

Two of the minor victims and the only adult victim had to be evacuated from the house. Authorities said the adult victim was the suspect’s brother.
