Garhwa DC takes action against CO over erroneous report

District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar has recommended disciplinary action against Ramkanda CO Anil Ravidas for submitting an erroneous report on the election-related C Vigil portal. An FIR was also registered against Bhawanathpur MP Bhanu Pratap Shahi for violating the model code of conduct.

In the case of implementation of the model code of conduct for the 2024 Assembly general elections, a video clip was uploaded on the portal on October 16 by a person named Jaiprakash Yadav from Pundag block of Ramkanda . In it, some women are standing with saris in their hands. She says this saree was gifted by Rajkishore Mukhiya. In view of the said complaint, the District Election Officer has directed the concerned circle officer to submit a report immediately after investigating the complaint.

Ramkanda Circle Officer Anil Ravidas has been deputized in Ranka-Ramkanda Block B Team, the second flying squad of 80-Garhwa Assembly constituency. It was his responsibility to investigate and submit an accurate and factual report in light of the above complaint. He accepted the online complaint and investigated. He gave an answer online. He said it was false information. No such activity took place. Along with this, a photo of the road was also uploaded.

After the reply uploaded by him, the complaint was dropped online by the Deputy Garhwa -cum- Returning Officer 80-Garhwa Assembly based on the inquiry report. After this, the district election officer considered doubtful the benefit of submitting the report after investigation within a short time and directed the said circle officer to investigate again and take action. In light of the above, the Commandant lodged an FIR at Ramakanda Police Station against Rajkishore Mukhiya.

Another FIR has been registered in a similar case. After the election was announced, prohibitory orders were issued by Sub-Divisional Officer and Returning Officer Shri Banshidhar Nagar Prabhakar Mirdha. During the visit to the area, the Sub-Divisional Officer found that the Ashirwad Rath Yatra program was being conducted by local MLA Bhanu-Pratap Shahi (Bharatiya Janata Party) by vehicle number UP 81-CT 0139 without the permission of the returning officer (81-Bhawanathpur Assembly). This was considered a violation of the model code of conduct.

An FIR has been registered against the local MLA under various relevant sections of violation of the model code of conduct. The District Election Officer appealed to the people of the district not to commit any mistake of any kind during the 2024 General Assembly Election so that the model code of conduct is violated. If a complaint arises from anywhere in this regard, strict action will be taken against those who violate the model code of conduct in the relevant sections.
