Rohini explosion: six suspects identified

Delhi Police have identified six people as suspects who visited the blast site before the incident days after a bomb exploded through the wall of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in sector 14 of Rohini.

According to police sources, police are currently awaiting forensic reports to determine the exact nature of the explosion. He added that they have so far questioned around 100 people in connection with the case.

Earlier, security and intelligence agencies were also investigating the role of Khalistan supporters in the blast after an alleged Telegram message circulated on social media claiming that the blast was carried out in retaliation for “targeting” of pro-Khalistan separatists, allegedly by Indian agents.

“Police went through more than 72 hours of CCTV footage, which led them to zero in on six people seen near the CRPF school,” the source said, adding that their identities were not known. yet been verified.

The strong explosion tore through the wall of the school in Prashant Vihar area of ​​Rohini on October 20. Although no one was injured in the explosion, it damaged billboards of nearby stores and the windows of some vehicles parked in the area.

Earlier, CCTV footage of a suspect from the night before the incident was found and more than two dozen people spotted near the site just before the explosion were questioned. A man wearing a white t-shirt was also identified by police using CCTV footage.

An officer familiar with the investigation said police had questioned around 100 people, including residents, shopkeepers and security guards, but were yet to get any major breakthrough. Police are also trying to determine the exact composition of the bomb believed to have been placed a foot underground, near the school wall.

A senior police officer said forensic teams and National Security Guard (NSG) experts had collected samples from the spot and a report was awaited. It is suspected that the bomb wrapped in a brown colored sachet was made from a mixture of three chemicals – hydrogen peroxide, borate and nitrate – weighing over 2kg.

A day after the incident, a team from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from Pune also visited the spot and collected samples. A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) held a meeting with Delhi Police officials in Rohini on Thursday.
