Is the new GTA 6 leak on TikTok real?

Is the new GTA 6 leak on TikTok real?

A new video on TikTok is starting to make the rounds showing off supposed footage of GTA 6. Since GTA 6’s reveal late last year, Rockstar Games has yet to follow up with a second trailer or additional images. It remains to be seen when this will change. In the absence of this, fake leaks start appearing on social media and elsewhere. The latest is a demanding leak that is misleading some Grand Theft Auto fans, but it is indeed false.

The leak, seen below, features what looks like a Vice City alley, complete with lots of graffiti, cars and palm trees. At first glance it looks like it could be from GTA 6, but some giveaways reveal it to be a fake.

First, there’s what’s supposed to be an Amazon delivery van. Of course, there would never be an actual replica of an Amazon delivery van in the game due to various legal and licensing issues, however, it wouldn’t be beyond Rockstar Games’ scope to parody it. However, flipping Amazon Prime’s arrow logo wouldn’t be enough. This would almost certainly cause legal problems for Rockstar Games. Additionally, when Rockstar Games parodies famous brands, it’s much more subtle.

More damning than that, those with a trained eye can spot Unreal Engine 5 assets in the images, including the UE5 WorldGridMaterial inside the car. GTA 6 is not made with Unreal Engine 5, but with Rockstar Games’ own RAGE engine.

While it’s clear that a lot of effort went into this fake leak, it’s nothing more than a fake leak. To that end, this isn’t the first fake GTA 6 leak, and it won’t be the last, but it’s getting more attention than previous fake leaks, but that’s simply because it’s more believable than these other previous leaks.
