The Total Show returns to Rome

MarteLive“The Total Show” will take place on October 22 and 23, 2024, at Qube (via di Portonaccio, 212) in Rome. Shows, performances and crossovers, synergies between different places and art in its freest forms.

MARteLive – The total show

“MArteLive – The Total Show” defies any single definition and returns on October 22 and 23 as part of the MArteLive 2024 Biennale, forming its central core and presenting itself in its historic format, which has characterized the festival since 2001.

The Total Show represents the multidisciplinary and multi-artistic event that fully characterizes the MARteLive universe: the simultaneity of the arts and their hybridization, overlapping to create a single synergistic event, composed of multiple shows in different spaces within the same place. With over 16 artistic sections – music, DJ/producer, theater, dance, contemporary circus, literature, painting, photography, digital illustration, street art, sculpture, crafts, fashion, video art, short films, music videos – MARteLive, c is much more. than a festival: it is a platform offering emerging artists an extraordinary opportunity for visibility, growth and direct interaction with the public and industry professionals.

This year again, the Total Show stage will be the Qube in Rome, an underground post-industrial venue with diverse and multifaceted spaces, perfect for hosting a festival with these characteristics. On this occasion special guests were involved – such as Fulu Miziki, Dutch Nazari North of Loreto, Sibode Dj, Lamante, James Holden, Malatesta, James LaVelle, Tropea, Bebo de Lo stato Sociale, Nobraino, Colombre, Max Passante, Free Love, Lowtopic – and more than 300 other artists selected from more than 1,500 proposals received as part of the Competition which has nourished and enriched the event for more than twenty years.

Artists will perform simultaneously and the three floors of Qube, a nighttime temple of subcultures and music, will light up with artistic synergies and performative connections that will come to life in space and time, creating a unique Total Show. The event, during previous editions, has already inhabited the spaces of the place, transforming and revisiting them in ever-changing ways. With the alternation and simultaneity of the artists involved, something unique and unrepeatable will be born, in pursuit of the “perpetual change” of artistic production, playing on the spaces and levels of the structure itself.

Some expected artists

For the double meeting at Qube on October 22 and 23, a multitude of national and international guests are expected.

Since 2018, he has devoted himself to the “North of Loreto” project, a tribute to the golden age of hip hop; James Holden (UK) – a versatile artist, famous for his profound influence on experimental electronic music; FreeLove – a band that integrates electronic and psychedelic sounds, with the special participation of Paul Thomson, former drummer of Franz Ferdinand, enriching their energetic and hypnotic sound.

October 23 will be dedicated to other unmissable performances, with notable protagonists: I Tropea – a Milanese group which, although coming from different backgrounds and ages, evolves intelligently in the contemporary pop scene, mixing catchy sounds and ironic words; Fulu Miziki – a futuristic music collective from the Democratic Republic of Congo, creating instruments and costumes entirely from waste, bringing to life unique music combining traditional and experimental sounds; Nobraino – group launched by MArteLive/MArteLabel – known for its explosive energy on stage, formed in the 2000s, established itself with more than 150 concerts per year, becoming the symbol of an irreverent and theatrical approach to Italian rock; Lamante – the stage name of Giorgia Pietribiasi, a visual and musical artist exploring memory through images and sounds, whose debut EP is an intimate journey into the heroic memories of her childhood; Sibode Dj, the alter ego of Simone Marzocchi, a provocative character mixing irony and absurdity in his performances, offering a mixture of comedy and electronic music that shakes up conventions and captivates the audience.

But that’s not all: other interesting guests are also expected, including Bebo, one of the founding members of the music group Lo Stato Sociale, who started performing in Bologna venues at the age 16 years old; Lowtopic – Francesco Bacci – a Genovese musician and producer who transformed into a multi-instrumentalist with Ex-Otago and produced rap and urban artists.
