Video shows Thornhill driver beaten and robbed

Dramatic video footage captures a violent scene in Thornhill where a driver was surrounded by two vehicles, then robbed and beaten.

The York Regional Police Robbery Unit is searching for at least three attackers while appealing for witnesses after Tuesday’s violent incident around 5:10 p.m.

Officers responded to a commercial plaza in the area of ​​Yonge Street and Meadowview Avenue for a report of a robbery.

Police said the victim was crossing the square when his vehicle was surrounded by a white Lexus SUV and a white four-door Mercedes-Benz.

Three suspects got out of their vehicle, then assaulted the victim and stole a black carry-on style suitcase containing cash from the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was slightly injured.

Video footage released by police shows the attackers appearing to struggle to enter the locked vehicle as they kick and punch the doors. Eventually, they open the driver’s side door and pull the driver from his seat as he appears to fight back.

We see one of the thugs fleeing with the suitcase while the other two try to contain the driver. The suspects then leave in the Lexus and Mercedes-Benz.

Police said the Lexus with the license plate “DCDL270” was reported stolen in Toronto earlier in the day, while the Mercedes-Benz displayed a license plate – “CKDY286” – which is not registered on this vehicle.

The wanted men wore dark clothing and spoke with a Middle Eastern accent, police said. The descriptions of the drivers of the Lexus and Mercedes-Benz were unknown.

Police said this was a targeted incident and the investigation is ongoing.
