BBMP chief Tushar Giri Nath posed as a scam again on Facebook | Bangalore News

Cybercriminals create fake FB account of BBMP chief for the third time

This is the third time that such a complaint has been filed. On October 11, BBMP Public Relations Office employee Iranna Bhorawat filed a complaint with the CEN Central Crime Police Station, stating that unknown persons had used the name and designation of the BBMP Chief Commissioner to create a fake Facebook account. profile the same day. They requested the police to delete the account and also take necessary action against the culprits.
A senior officer said they have registered a case under the Information Technology Act and the investigation is underway.
According to Giri Nath’s office, unauthorized messages were sent to several people using the fake account. This incident follows two previous similar identity theft attempts. In July 2022, cybercriminals created a fake account about him and demanded money from his subordinates, asking for Amazon gift cards via WhatsApp. A similar attempt was made in February 2024, when a WhatsApp account, using Giri Nath’s photo, was created to demand Amazon gift cards again.
Commenting on the repeated incidents, Giri Nath expressed his frustration: “We have looked into the matter seriously, but nothing can be done. I can only initiate proceedings, but what can we do if people create fake accounts?
