SAN ANTONIO – An early morning fire at an apartment complex left one unit uninhabitable and several others damaged by water and smoke, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Fire crews arrived at a complex in the 11000 block of West Avenue on the North Side shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.

Crews brought the second floor fire under control and no injuries were reported, said a battalion chief at the scene.

The SAFD estimates that three units were damaged, including one uninhabitable, according to the battalion chief. Smoke and water damaged other affected units, some of which were on the ground floor.

The Red Cross and apartment management representatives were working to care for the displaced residents, the battalion chief said.

The damage estimate was not immediately known.
