Fresno news: Fathers seek help after daughters, Eliza and Mang Yang, killed by SUV that crashed into California home

FRESNO, California — Stuffed animals, boarded up walls and destroyed beds were left at the scene of an accident that claimed the lives of two sisters in California this week.

A high-speed chase ended in a bedroom with two young women inside, killing them both.

The Yang family woke up to their worst nightmare come true Thursday morning.

“What can we do? We can’t do anything at all, but right now everyone is sad because we lost our daughters,” said Ronald Yang, the victims’ uncle.

Eliza Yang, 18, and Mang Yang, 25, were killed after a car crashed into their bedroom Wednesday evening. One was sleeping and the other was about to go to work.

I have nothing at all, and if you hear this, please help me.

“I have nothing at all, and if you hear this, please help me,” the victim’s father said.

The father clutched two large stuffed animals he had pulled from the rubble as he surveyed the damage and what was left of his daughters’ bedroom.

“He was looking for his daughters but couldn’t find them. One of their heads was sticking out of the front door because the car had pushed her from the bedroom to the front door. He couldn’t find the other because from the wall and the bed covered her,” Ronald Yang said.

I found my daughter under the car. I tried to get her out, but it was too late. When I pulled her out, she wasn’t breathing. I lost it.

The fatal accident was the result of a pursuit. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said the incident lasted less than 30 seconds.

“As soon as the chase started, it ended,” Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said.

Fresno County sheriff’s deputies said they were on patrol when they noticed a suspected gang-related disturbance.

Officers moved closer to see what was happening when a known gang member, Adam Canales, 18, got into a white Chevrolet Tahoe and sped away, beginning the chase.

It ended when his SUV crashed into the family home, three blocks away. Investigators say Canales was driving without a license or insurance. He was also under the influence of alcohol.

If he had stopped, this could have been avoided. He is the one responsible for the two innocent girls who died.

“If he had stopped, this could have been avoided. He is responsible for the deaths of the two innocent girls,” Zanoni said.

After the crash, Canales was able to get out of his vehicle and fled, but was found and arrested.

Eliza Yang had just graduated from Fresno High School, and Mang Yang helped support her family while studying nursing.

“They’re really good kids. Nice girls, one of them works and the other had an interview a few days ago,” Ronald Yang said.

The entire family was inside at the time of impact, including six children: three girls and three boys. Not only have the Yang family’s hearts been torn apart, but their home remains uninhabitable at this point.

“Our hearts are broken. We just don’t know what to do right now. So anyone who can help us make a small donation for us, please help us with our daughter’s funeral right now,” said Ronald Yang . .

The family has set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs as well as help repair the house.
