Meghan Markle opened up about being one of the most bullied people in the world while meeting with teenagers in California.

Meghan visited Girls Inc of Greater Santa Barbara on October 2 as they launched a new digital wellness program.

The nonprofit partnered with #HalfTheStory for the project.

Larissa May, founder of #HalfTheStory, attended the event alongside Stephanie J. Hull, CEO of Meghan and Girls Inc.

She said the duchess had confessed to being bullied during an activity with a group of teenagers.

“We did an activity where we discussed a number of scenarios, and Meghan talked about being one of the most bullied people in the world,” Ms May said at Vanity Fair.

“We asked girls to wave these little emoji signs and talk about the emotional impact of each of these scenarios.”

She added: “With Stephanie and Meghan, we talked about what it really means to grow up in the digital age.”

During her visit, Meghan also helped test the Social Media U program. It was designed with input from teens on the #HalfTheStory advisory board.

The goal of the project is to encourage adolescents to socialize without screens while helping them use technology in a positive way.

It is financially supported by Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation as well as the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation and Melissa French Gates’ Pivotal Ventures.

It comes after Meghan spoke out about the “hateful” cyberbullying she faced while pregnant with her children.

She discussed “breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes” during a visit to Texas in March 2024.

“I’m keeping my distance at the moment for my own well-being, but most of the bullying and abuse I received on social media and online happened when I was pregnant with Archie and Lili, and a newborn baby, with each of them,” she previously said.

“Just think about it and understand why people would be so hateful. It’s not mean, it’s cruel. Why would you do that when you’re pregnant or as a mom, it’s such a time tender and sacred.”

She added: “You might succumb to it, or almost succumb to the pain of it.

“Or maybe because I was pregnant the mammalian instinct kicks in to do everything you can to protect your child and, therefore, protect yourself too.”
