Parents request parking after student hit by car in Houlton

Another parent, Charmaine Curtis, said it could be “scary” crossing the road outside the school.

“It amazes me how they built this school without putting in a crosswalk or zigzag lines in front of the entrance to stop people from parking,” she said.

“It was always an accident waiting to happen.”

Principal Andy Taylor on Wednesday appealed to parents to “think of others” when dropping off their children.

“We would really, really appreciate it if the developers or the council came together to put in place some really robust security measures,” he said.

“It’s really frustrating to feel like things could be done.

“We really want action to be taken as soon as possible, so that there are no more potential accidents.”
