Lockport man pleads guilty to murdering his sister

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara County Prosecutor’s Office announced that a Lockport man has pleaded guilty to murdering his sister.

David B. Fermoile, 65, pleaded guilty Friday to the second-degree murder of his sister, Diane Fermoile-McAvoy, 68.

The incident occurred in June 2023. At the time, police said patrols responded to a residence on Windermere Road and found a woman unconscious on the ground, suffering from multiple head injuries and in the face. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There is no way to adequately express the devastation this crime has caused to the victim’s family. I hope this call will allow them to turn the page.”

– Brian D. Seaman, Niagara County Prosecutor

The prosecutor’s office said Fermoile faces 20 years to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 11.
