Former Gomoa Central MP Rachel Appoh says National Democratic Congress members from the constituency and Central region will not be intimidated by the intimidation tactics of their opponents.

Addressing a gathering of constituency leaders, polling station officials and party members in the constituency, Rachel Appoh denounced what she considers to be alleged acts of intimidation by the New Patriotic Party and by musician Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A-Plus.

The former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection noted that the NDC has always refrained from responding to acts of violence because the party believes in the rule of law.

She, however, warned opponents and security agencies that the party and its members will be forced to take steps to protect themselves if steps are not taken to resolve the problem.

Rachel Appoh charged NDC members not to be frightened by the actions of their opponents and campaign hard for John Dramani Mahama and Kwame Deen Yawson, who is the parliamentary candidate.

Rachel Appoh reaffirmed her commitment to protecting peace, but warned that the NDC would not hesitate to protect its rights in the face of intimidation and violence.

“In every election we are subjected to intimidation and violence and we do not respond because we want to protect the peace that the constituency enjoys. This year I have seen and heard about the acts of violence perpetrated by our opponents, but I want to assure you all to stand firm and continue the campaign for Kwame Yawson and John Mahama.

“I want to warn the NPP and Kwame A-Plus that we are not afraid of anyone. If they bring violence, we will confront them boot by boot. We will not allow them to bully us again. We will fight to protect our rights and the constitution of Ghana. The will of the people must prevail in elections and we know that the desire of Ghanaians is to see John Mahama in the presidency and Kwame Yawson in Parliament,” Rachel Appoh said amid applause and cheers from the crowd.

Rachel Appoh encouraged the gathering to do everything possible to sell the good policies of the NDC, the main title of which is the 24-hour economy.

She explained that the policy will be the panacea to the high unemployment rate in the country and urged Ghanaians to have faith in the NDC.
