A skydiver attempting an unauthorized jump in the north of Hoa Binh province found himself tangled in power lines on Sunday, forcing an entire commune to rescue him.

The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. when the man jumped from a 650m-high hill in Hoa Binh City. As he prepared to land, he became entangled in 35 kV power lines, leaving him suspended about 20 meters above the ground.

Local residents quickly alerted authorities, causing power supply to be suspended throughout Quang Tien commune to ensure the safe rescue of the parachutist.

At 2 p.m., the man was returned safely and power was restored to the area at 3 p.m.

According to Dinh Thi Bich Dam, deputy head of the Department of Culture and Information in Hoa Binh, the man had not received official permission for the jump.
