Pickup truck driver, 66, seriously injured in New Jersey highway crash

The driver of a pickup truck was seriously injured Friday in a crash on I-287 North in Somerset County, authorities said.

The 66-year-old man from Lake Hopatcong was driving north on an expressway around 5:18 p.m. when his pickup truck veered right at mile marker 19.6 in Bridgewater and struck the guardrail, police said of state.

The pickup then crossed local lanes and struck the other guardrail, state police said, citing a preliminary investigation.

The driver was transported in serious condition to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation, state police said.
