Georgia high school shooting suspect pleads not guilty

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – The 14-year-old accused in the fatal shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia has pleaded not guilty.

Colt Gray entered his plea Tuesday in Barrow County Superior Court, according to court documents. Colt and his attorney also backed out of a formal settlement and demanded a jury trial.

Colt faces 55 charges, including felony and malicious murder.

Colt and Colin Gray should be tried separately.

His father Colin Gray was also charged in connection with the shooting. He faces 29 charges, including second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving. Authorities said they believe he gave Colt access to the gun used in the shooting.

Students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, and teachers Cristina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall were killed in the September 4 shooting.

Colt and his father should be tried separately.
