Five boys, aged between 14 and 16, were taken to hospital following a two-car crash in Staffordshire.

Police said they were called shortly after 6.30pm BST to Highgate Common in Enville on Thursday due to the crash between a Nissan Micra and a Land Rover Discovery.

Paramedics attended to the teenagers who police say were inside the Micra at the time of the crash.

One of them was freed from the car by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, they said.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said one of the boys was treated for life-threatening injuries, while a second was treated for serious injuries.

Both were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, they said.

Two other boys were treated for serious injuries before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, while the final teenager was taken to New Cross Hospital after receiving treatment for potentially serious injuries, added the spokesperson.

Three people in the Land Rover – two women and a man – were treated at the scene for minor injuries but did not require further treatment, paramedics said.

Police said they want to speak to anyone with information about the crash.
