Alan Wake II details PS5 Pro improvements

Remedy Entertainment has released new information and footage featuring Alan Wake IIPlayStation 5 Pro improvements.

Alan Wake II“Quality” and “Performance” will be upgraded for the PlayStation 5 Pro, with the former producing 30 frames per second with ray tracing and an output resolution of 4K (upscaled from a rendering resolution of 2176 × 1224), and the second at 60 frames per second and an output resolution of 4K (scaled from a rendering resolution of 1536 × 864).

Alan Wake II on PlayStation 5 Pro

Alan Wake II takes full advantage of Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro to further enhance the gaming experience. Remedy’s Northlight engine team has spent a lot of time updating the technology behind Alan Wake IIthe main new feature of the PlayStation 5 Pro being the addition of ray tracing.

Quality and Performance modes in Alan Wake II are upgraded on the PlayStation 5 Pro. They use Sony’s new “PlayStation Super Spectral Resolution”, also known as the PSSR upscaling method. To quote Sony’s marketing-speak, “PSSR is AI-driven upscaling that uses machine learning-based technology to deliver razor-sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.” »

Quality mode

PlayStation 5 Pro Quality mode features ray tracing, which is not available on the base PlayStation 5 version of the game.

  • 30 frames per second with ray tracing.
  • Ray-traced reflections (opaque and transparent).
  • Output resolution 3840×2160 (4K).
  • Rendering resolution 2176×1224.

Performance Mode

Performance mode on PlayStation 5 Pro offers significantly higher output resolution and features more visual detail compared to the base PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 5 Pro’s Performance mode uses roughly the same image quality (rendering) settings as the base PlayStation 5’s Quality mode.

Overall image stability, fog, volumetric lighting and shadow accuracy have been improved on PlayStation 5 Pro.
