T3’s eufyCam S3 Pro review in one sentence: Excellent resolution and ease of use make this outdoor security camera combination a hit.

When it comes to home security, the eufy brand has been around long enough to know it can be trusted and regularly features in our guide to the best security cameras. Adding to the appeal of the new eufyCam S3 Pro twin camera combination is the resolution, which is a real strength of this brand. After all, there seems no point in installing security cameras if the images obtained are not of much use.

This security camera set is actually an all-in-one set, which means it comes with everything needed to get it up and running. The headline here is really the quality of the images, which are 4K and the cameras are capable of capturing images both day and night. The other advantage for me is that the setup is quick and easy to install and configure, and no monthly subscription is required to save recorded footage.

eufyCam S3 Pro review: price and availability

The eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is available now from Amazon for £499, or it can be purchased directly from the eufy website. It’s also possible to add another camera to extend your surveillance coverage, with a single camera priced at £229 on Amazon. A variation of the same type of kit is available on Amazon in the United States for $389.99.

The eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is an all-in-one home security camera bundle, consisting of two 4K UHD surveillance units as well as a HomeBase base station. The package comes with all the cables needed to connect and there are also mounting brackets inside the box, allowing for quick and easy installation of the cameras as well as their adjustment. Although there is a power adapter, the kit also runs on solar power. This is done using either energy from the built-in solar panels or an additional panel provided in the package.

This eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam set revolves around the homeBase S380 hub which constitutes the other art of the package apart from the cameras. Connectivity is via an Ethernet cable, with a power cable and adapter also needing to be plugged into the mains. Once the unit has been connected and configured using a home Wi-Fi network, it can be set up for use. There are mounting brackets that allow cameras to be placed in position and these can be tilted for optimal video capture.

While it’s possible to buy a set of security cameras for peanuts, such is the crowded market they’re in, eufy is a slightly more premium brand. As a result, everything seemed well made when I took the components out of the sturdy box they arrived in. Like everyone else these days, eufy points out that this model is AI-powered, offers MaxColor Vision technology while also delivering 4K images. of both camera units. They also feature F1.0 aperture lenses and 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensors.

MaxColor technology is designed to help cameras film after dark, an area that many surveillance cameras tend to struggle with. There is an adaptive projector in this set, which is triggered by motion and allows users to get more quality images where it is needed. Another advantage of the eufyCam S3 Pro is its ability to run on solar power, with only one hour of sunlight needed per day to operate it. Meanwhile, the 13000mAh rechargeable battery can provide up to 365 days of battery life.

Paying a little more should also mean that the eufyCam S3 Pro is rather more responsive. In fact, eufy estimates that this model can reduce false alerts by up to 99%. Audio is also well-represented in this package, with a dual-microphone setup that adds a 105dB speaker and siren alerts for added overall effectiveness. Add 16TB of expandable storage, which can be used without monthly fees, plus the ability to change settings and alerts using the accompanying app and you’ve got a powerful package.

eufyCam S3 Pro review: performance

Mentioning AI in product blurb can often seem like a token gesture in an attempt to appear relevant. However, I was impressed with how well the eufyCam S3 Pro setup worked with the help of this support. The main appeal is the quality of 4K video, but I also like how I can use the 8x zoom functionality to go directly to specific areas of my footage. It works both day and night, so this is a definite advantage of the eufyCam S3 Pro specification, which is further enhanced by intelligent AI assistance which also improves images.

In fact, the eufyCam S3 Pro is truly a versatile piece of kit, perhaps one of the best I’ve tried. There’s certainly flexibility, with the ability to focus on certain areas up to an impressive height of forty feet. The viewing angle is also incredibly wide, up to 120 degrees, meaning that with both cameras in situ I get an excellent view of the area I’m monitoring. The 16GB of local storage is excellent and also works with Amazon Alexa and Apple Home.

I’ve tried a few home security camera packages over the years and the eufyCam S3 Pro seems to be one of the best I can buy right now. Certainly the cost is significant and even more so if I want more cameras, but it does everything expected of it to a high standard. The images are excellent, the usability is simple and effective, while the biggest draw for me has to be the lack of need for a monthly subscription. That’s one less submarine to worry about, so that’s a thumbs up for this home security solution.

eufyCam S3 Pro review: alternatives to consider

This is a dynamic product category, so there are plenty of choices, including from eufy itself. The Eufy S220 SoloCam will work outdoors, offers local storage so you don’t need a subscription, and can even be powered by the built-in solar panel on top. It’s not that new.

Another camera worthy of your consideration is the EZVIZ H3C 2K. Video and audio are more than adequate on this camera, and it brings just about every feature you’re looking for, but what really appeals is the price you have to pay for it.
