WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of causing the death of Nicole Sandoval has pleaded not guilty to one count of reckless homicide.

Alec Beach entered the plea Friday. Investigators say he and Sandoval, who was his girlfriend at the time, were arguing on the side of a road in the town of Auburndale. Eventually, Beach got into a van and drove away while Sandoval hung on the driver’s side, her feet on the running boards and her hands gripping the partially rolled down window.

Beach is accused of swerving as he drove away, throwing Sandoval from the vehicle onto the sidewalk. Autopsy results show she died from blunt force trauma.

The 23-year-old man faces trial and is being held on $1 million bail. A programming conference is scheduled for January 10. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
