New Mexico State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tyler Wright has deleted more than 150 racist, sexist and homophobic posts on his X account, the platform formerly known as Twitter, for which he is under investigation.

Now going by the handle @CoachTyWright instead of @CoachWrightNMSU, Wright’s bio, banner and profile picture have changed. His Wright’s account is also now private instead of public.

A university spokesperson did not have an update for the Las Cruces Sun-News Wednesday evening on the investigation into Wright, and Aggies sports information director Michael Navarrette confirmed that Wright is still currently employed by NMSU.

The Sun-News reported the nature of Wright’s messages on the evening of September 27, which contained derogatory remarks about Africans and African-Americans, Hispanics, women and the LGBTQ+ community. The posts were made from 2011 to 2014 while Wright played football at Tarleton State. Wright’s posts include nearly 100 remarks about LGBTQ+ people, including homophobic slurs, more than 60 references to Ugandan warlord and accused war criminal Joseph Kony that demean Africans and African-Americans, at least a dozen of degrading messages toward women, nine stereotypical and demeaning messages toward Hispanics and Latinos, and five uses of common racial slurs toward black people.

Following the report, Aggies athletic director Mario Moccia informed the Sun-News that Wright “will not be with the team” while NM State investigates the matter. On Thursday, he did not return to the team and missed two games against New Mexico and Jacksonville State.

The Aggies (1-5) play Louisiana Tech (1-3) at home next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
