Illegal mining: raid in Dhingai village in Asr

Chandigarh: To fight illegal miningA joint task force comprising mining officials and police conducted a raid in Amritsar district on Saturday.
Mines and Geology Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said his department had a “zero tolerance policy” towards illegal mining. He said Saturday’s operation uncovered an illicit mining site at Dhingai Village in Amritsar district Ajnala area where evidence of unauthorized excavations was recently detected.
Goyal said the team discovered operational machinery at the site, including a Poclain excavator, which was quickly documented and seized by authorities. The raid also revealed a dubious agreement between two individuals, Harpreet Singh and Jasbir Singh, apparently granting permission to dig the ground. The legitimacy of the deal is currently under investigation, he added.
