According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian coach Luciano Spalletti has spoken directly to Inter boss Simone Inzaghi to clear things up after a public row.

The problem arose when Inzaghi admitted in a statement to the prosecutor that he had spoken on the phone with arrested Inter ultras leader Marco Ferdico.

He insisted it was simply a request for extra tickets for the 2023 Champions League final against Manchester City and that there had been no threats or intimidation.

Tensions between Inzaghi and Spalletti over the ultras situation

Spalletti responded by making public comments that were seen as an attack on Inter, who, along with Milan, see their dealings with the often shady world of ultras under investigation.

“It has never happened that anyone called me with these questions, it was news that surprised me, because we don’t know what the relationship was like before,” Spalletti said.

“If someone calls you, you don’t know them, you’ve never had anything to do with them, I think it’s difficult to exchange words.

“I answer everyone, even numbers I don’t know, but I can also hang up at that time.”

Inzaghi and Inter saw this as a personal attack on their judgment, but La Gazzetta dello Sport insists that today Spalletti spoke personally to the coach and reassured him that it was ‘a general answer rather than specifically about it.

It is not uncommon for Italian football players and coaches to have contact with members of the ultras.
