Israel carries out 17 night strikes in Lebanon, destroys offices of Al Mayadeen news channel

Israel continues its assault on Lebanon, carrying out 17 attacks in the southern suburbs of Beirut overnight, destroying at least six buildings. A strike destroyed the offices of the Lebanese news channel Al Mayadeen. Israel also killed three Lebanese soldiers in another strike.

At the same time, health authorities are warning of a possible cholera epidemic among Lebanese children, against a backdrop of massive displacements, attacks on the health system and lack of drinking water and food. The 400,000 displaced children in Lebanon are also at risk of other highly communicable diseases such as hepatitis A and measles.

In France, President Emmanuel Macron pledged 100 million euros in aid to Lebanon as he opened a conference in Paris to rally support for Lebanon and reiterate calls for a ceasefire.
