Discovering foundry techniques this Saturday at the Carvin Media Workshop

Europe’s largest foundry, Metaleurop, has left its mark on the region. These were significant human and scientific adventures. The Aced Métallia association’s mission is to transmit the memory and knowledge of these places. Since September, the exhibition “Factory of memories, a place and men” has presented the 109 years of this industrial site whose production ended abruptly in 2003. This is an opportunity to take an interest in human life on and around this site while preserving the memory of men, women and children.

Vernissage and ephemeral forge

A few days before the end of the exhibition, on October 30, this Saturday will have two highlights with the opening at 6 p.m. at the end of an original day of discovery and learning. Indeed, an ironworker, Gérard Caux, on the one hand and Kossi Traoré, an artist sculptor and bronze caster, on the other hand, were invited to show the public an ephemeral forge. From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. then from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., it will also be possible to participate in a sculpture workshop based on traditional African art. Established in France for a long time, Kossi Traoré travels across France and Europe exhibiting his works and leading workshops as will be the case on Saturday in Carvin.
