Two teens arrested in connection with downtown Omaha murder

An 18-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting in downtown Omaha last month, according to a report.

He was booked into Douglas County Corrections on a charge of being an accessory to a crime, according to police.

Ramon Tramble Jr., 26, died from his injuries the day after the incident near South 26th and Farnam streets.

He is the second teen arrested in connection with the shooting, following the arrest of a 16-year-old on Wednesday.

Teen surrenders after angry mob attack on Omaha woman

A teenage girl has turned herself in after a violent attack Saturday night against a 55-year-old Omaha woman in a church parking lot.

She was cited for third-degree assault and released Wednesday evening. The teenager faces a maximum sentence of three months in prison and a fine of $500.

6 News has footage of the attack from the victim, Chris, who says she and her car were badly beaten. She is demanding justice and waiting for the police to find the other people involved in the attack.

A GoFundMe is set up so she can pay for her car repairs and medical bills.

Omaha mayor will hold town hall meeting Thursday

On Thursday, Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert will hold her third town hall meeting in her 2024 fall series.

The meeting will be held in South Omaha at the Kids Can Community Center, 4768 Q. St.

Stothert says she wants to discuss topics like public safety, business growth and financial management, among others.

All meetings take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Omaha Children’s Museum to share its latest projects Thursday

The Children’s Museum of Omaha is holding a news conference Thursday to share its future plans for the space.

Mayor Stothert will join the museum’s CEO for the event which begins at 10:30 a.m.

6 News will have a reporter to cover any new information Thursday.

Once the new projects are shared, the museum says it will have “interactive opportunities for visitors to provide feedback” on the new developments.

The attraction has existed since 1976.

Nearly 200 people in Douglas County charged with crimes have requested to vote

Following last week’s Nebraska Supreme Court ruling, Nebraskans who have served their full sentences can now vote in the November election.

The Douglas County Election Commission reported that nearly 200 Nebraskans with felonies have registered to vote.

Officials say about 400 requests from the Nebraska Secretary of State are still pending.

The commission office remains open an hour later Thursday until 6 p.m.

The deadline to register in person in Douglas and Sarpy counties is Friday at 6 p.m.

Election 2024: Bacon and Vargas hold campaign events and rallies

The race for the 2nd Congressional District seat is coming to an end.

State Sen. Tony Vargas will tour Black-owned businesses in Omaha on Thursday after an appearance at a “Black Women for Harris” event.

He will visit Black Power Redevelopers, Mixins Rolled Ice Cream and Ital Vital Living.

A rally was held Wednesday for Rep. Don Bacon at the Good Life Sports Bar and Grill in West Omaha.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer led the “Get Out and Vote” rally for Bacon.

The candidates participated in three debates this month, ahead of the 2024 elections.
