A 53-year-old man died on October 22, 2024 after being found unconscious in a vat on a wine property in Gironde. The police opened an investigation.

The facts happened in a wine property in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon in Gironde on the morning of October 22.

Found in cardiorespiratory arrest

A 53-year-old wine employee was discovered by his work colleagues in cardiorespiratory arrest in a Château Grand Barrail vat, report our colleagues from Southwest.

The man was taken out but could not be resuscitated by emergency services.

An open investigation

According to the first elements of the investigation, the man responsible for washing the wine vat could have felt unwell because of the alcohol vapors, according to France Blue.

But another avenue is favored: that of carbon monoxide poisoning present in the tank which caused him a stroke.

An investigation was opened to shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy and to verify whether all security measures had been taken.
